The Garmin nüvi 660 is a navigation system that the world traveler simply cannot do without. If you do any amount of driving to different destinations, you will love having this travel assistant along with you.

When you unpack the box, you will find the following components:

Flip back the lever on the navigation system and flip up the antenna. Place the device into the cradle and tilt it back until it snaps into place.

If you want to navigate a route before you start, you do need to locate a satellite. You need to use the GPS antenna when outdoors, but keep it closed when using the device indoors. The green bars on the device will indicate the presence of a satellite from which you can download driving directions.

You may need to consult the guide that comes with the nüvi 660 in order to understand the menu on the screen. The signal strength is across the top of the device, as well as the status of the battery. You can use the quick settings to help you adjust the brightness of the screen and the volume of the voice providing you with driving directions.

The menu will ask you where you want to go and to choose a destination all you have to do is touch the screen to choose the location to which you are travelling. You can then view the map of the route to get a good idea of the distance and the number of turns and exits.

Once you choose to view the map of your route on the nüvi 660, you can zoom in to have a larger view of a section of the map. The purple line on the map is the route you need to follow. The trip information feature displays your current speed and the time it will take you to arrive at your destination. You do need to reset this at the start of every trip.
